Emergency Information:
This Emergency Information page is designed to help families stay informed and prepared during urgent situations. It includes important resources and updates to support student safety and well-being.
We encourage all parents and guardians to sign up for School Messenger to receive timely information about weather closures and other emergencies. These messages provide the most up-to-date information when it matters most.
School Safety Reminders:
The following safety reminders explain our standard procedures during a school emergency. These steps help ensure a quick and coordinated response to keep students and staff safe. We ask all parents and guardians to review this information so we can work together effectively during an emergency.
- Watch for School Messenger texts or emails for updates, including where to get more information and when and where you can pick up your child.
- Do not come to the school unless directed. Keeping streets and parking areas clear allows emergency responders to do their jobs safely and quickly.
- Do not call the school during an emergency. Phone lines must stay open, and staff will be focused on keeping students safe.
- Most importantly, remind your children to report any safety concerns right away to a trusted adult.
Standard Emergency Language:
School safety continues to be our priority in Post Falls School District. Recently Kootenai County law enforcement agencies and local school districts discussed the need to ensure school emergency language is consistent between all community agencies and districts who would be involved in responding to any incident. As a result of this collaboration, the following three terms will be used throughout the county:
- Evacuate – indicates there is a reason for staff and students to leave the building such as in the event of a fire drill.
- Safety Hold – signals something happening outside of the building, perhaps a neighborhood incident, and requires awareness for school personnel. Normal activity continues, and all staff & students remain indoors.
- Lockdown – notifies all staff and students of an emergency within the building and requires heightened security action of all staff and students.
Post Falls School District is proud to partner with the Post Falls Police Department to provide a safe learning environment for our students. If you have any questions about our school safety procedures, please contact your school principal.
