The Post Falls School District Special Education Program strives to support all students and their families who meet the special education eligibility requirements of IDEA. The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) is a federal special education law that requires school districts to provide a free appropriate public education to eligible children with disabilities. A free appropriate education means special education and related services, described in an Individualized Education Plan (IEP), and provided to children in the least restrictive environment. The Post Falls School District offers a wide range of special education services. More information can be obtained from your child’s teacher, the building special education teacher, or the school principal. All elementary, middle and high schools have a full range of special education services including, but not limited to:
- Academic support
- Behavior consultation
- Hearing and vision impairment supports
- Physical and occupational therapy
- Speech and language therapy
- Psychological evaluation and consulting
- Transition services for 18-21
Child Find Requirements:
The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) requires that school districts provide a free and appropriate education to all disabled children and young adults from birth through 21 years of age. The Post Falls School District requests assistance with the identification of any disabled children ages 0 through 21, who are not enrolled or currently being served in one of the district’s schools. If you know of any disabled children ages 0 through 21, who are not receiving education services, please call the Post Falls School District Special Services Department at (208) 773-7246.

Post Falls School District #273 is hereby notifying students and/or parents of students who attended Post Falls School District prior to June 2019 that the special education records kept on file are no longer needed to provide educational services. Therefore, in compliance with the local school board approved Special Education Policy Manual, these records may be destroyed after June 12, 2024. Destruction of these records is the best protection against improper and unauthorized disclosure.
Please be aware these records may be needed in the future for social security benefits or other purposes. If you desire to review your file or those of your dependent child/children or keep the file for your own records, please direct your request before June 12, 2024 (after this time these records may be destroyed) to:
