Board of Trustees Approve Emergency Levy

At a special board meeting held on September 5, PFSD Board of Trustees approved an Emergency Levy for $615,000 to help defray the costs of an additional 144 students.  The district continues to experience growth, as evidenced by the 2.5 percent enrollment increase this year.   The one-time money will help pay for additional teachers, support staff, and supplies necessary to educate the new students; the money will also pay for bus.  Even with the emergency levy, the district tax rate will be reduced from $2.08 per thousand last year to $2.074 for this year.  Though the district qualified for $831,000, district leaders were committed to providing for the needs of the district without increasing taxes. Although growth was seen throughout the district, Post Falls High School and Post Falls Middle School enrolled the most new students.   PFHS current enrollment is 1670.
