Late yesterday afternoon, the Idaho State Board of Education directed all Idaho schools to remain closed until April 20. While students will not be attending school in our buildings over the next four weeks, PFSD will continue to provide essential services, including grab and go breakfast and lunch for children at five locations (PFHS, RCMS, Ponderosa, West Ridge & Greensferry Elementary) and childcare for community members providing healthcare and critical services.
In an effort to minimize the burden on families who may depend on the nutritious meals their children receive during the school year, the PFSD will be adding West Ridge & Greensferry Elementary Schools as supplemental breakfast and lunch sites during this temporary school closure. Beginning Thursday, 3/26 from 11AM – 12PM, a bus will be stationed at West Ridge, and patrons can “grab and go” as they have been doing at our other three meal locations. Beginning Monday, 3/30 from 11AM-12PM, a bus will be stationed at Greensferry for the grab and go meal service. Please note the mobile food stations are open from 11AM-12PM.
Our teachers and administrators are working this week to provide more developed remote learning experiences. Additional information will follow in the coming weeks. If you currently do not have internet access, Spectrum is offering free internet for 60 days. Call Spectrum at: (844) 488-8395. It is important to note Spectrum will start charging you for internet after 60 days unless you call to cancel your service before then. Additionally, each of our building parking lots is a “hot spot”. If your child does not have access to a device, he/she will have the ability to check out a chromebook for use during the closure. Check-out information will accompany the details of our remote learning plan.
All kindergarten students will return to their home schools in the fall of 2020.
Beginning April 28, 2020, parents will be able to register their incoming kindergarten student at their assigned school. (Kindergarten students who will be attending the new Treaty Rock Elementary in Foxtail subdivision will register at Frederick Post Kindergarten.)
Please see the link below to view the April 28th kindergarten registration day flyer. Access to your school’s registration forms. LInk to order birth certificate online.
The Post Falls School District Board of Trustees unanimously voted to hire Dena Naccarato as the next Superintendent starting July 1, 2020. The selection came at the end of a lengthy process that included multiple opportunities for staff, parents and community input as well as a thorough background check. The board rated the candidates based on their application packet, interviews, references, and input from a candidates’ meet and greet. Board Chairman Dave Paul expressed, “We had an outstanding group of finalists; however, Ms. Naccarato rose to the top in all areas of the process. We are excited for her to put her own footprint on the future of Post Falls School District.”
Dena Naccarato has been with Post Falls School District since 2004, first as an Assistant Principal and then Principal at Post Falls High School. Ms. Naccarato moved to the district office six years ago where she served as the Director of Programs and Instruction and for the past three years as the Assistant Superintendent for Secondary Programs. “I’m humbled and honored at the board’s decision and look forward to working with students, staff, parents and community of Post Falls,” stated Ms. Naccarato. “I will schedule time formally and informally in each building to meet with staff and gather input on the future of the district.”
School lunches are a cost effective way to provide students with a nutritious meal during the school day. You may qualify to take advantage of this wonderful service allowing your child to eat for free or at a reduced cost.
If you think you might qualify, please take a few minutes to complete a free and reduced lunch application - - forms are available at the school office or can be found on the District website under Departments, Nutritional Services, Forms (https://www.pfsd.com/17/home). Just return the completed form to the District Office (206 W. Mullan Ave.), to your student’s teacher, or to your school office. All information is totally confidential. If you need assistance or have questions with the application please call 208-773-1625.
Even if you choose not to take advantage of the free and reduced lunch program, a qualifying application can increase the school district’s allocated dollars which go directly toward our Title One reading program which helps students improve in reading.
Title One is a reading intervention program offered at all of our elementary schools to help students gain the skills needed to meet the state and district reading benchmarks. Our program receives its funding from the federal government. All of our Title funding is based on the number of students in the district who qualify for free and/or reduced lunch.
If you have already completed an application for this school year, you don’t need to fill it out again. Applications must be completed annually.
Site under construction. More information coming soon.
