2021-2022 GAP Registration - closed

Due to ongoing staffing shortages, GAP (before and after school parent-funded childcare services) is unable to accept any more childcare registrations at this time. Waitlists are established for each elementary site.  When space becomes available, we will place students on a first come, first served basis.

Parents wishing to add their children to the waitlist should contact Christina Magistrale, GAP Manager, at 208-773-5010.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.  For information about other local childcare options, contact the Department of Health and Welfare at 2-1-1.

Kindergarten

Dear GAP families,

For the 2021-22 school year, we are moving to a consolidated GAP kindergarten program. Students will be transported by school bus at mid-day to one of two centralized kindergarten GAP programs:

  • If your child attends West Ridge, Seltice or Mullan Trail and they require mid-day care, they will attend GAP at Mullan Trail.

  • If your child attends Ponderosa, Prairie View, Greensferry or Treaty Rock and they require mid-day care, they will attend GAP at Prairie View

What does this look like if you need before school, after school and/or mid-day GAP childcare and your child does NOT attend kindergarten at one of the two centralized kindergarten GAP sites?

If your kindergarten student attends the AM kindergarten session at West Ridge:

Students will ride the bus or parents will drop their child off at West Ridge in the morning. If before-school childcare is required, they will attend West Ridge GAP. When their AM kindergarten class is finished, they will be escorted to a bus and transported to Mullan Trail. GAP staff will greet them at the bus and take them into the GAP area. Students will eat lunch at Mullan Trail. (This year all students still qualify for free lunch.) You will pick your child up at the end of the day from Mullan Trail.

If your kindergarten student attends AM kindergarten session at Seltice:

Students will ride the bus or parents will drop their child off at Seltice in the morning. If parents need GAP childcare before the school day begins, they will drop off at Mullan Trail. A staff member will walk the students from Mullan Trail to Seltice in the morning prior to the start of the school day. When their AM kindergarten class is finished, a staff member will walk the students back to Mullan Trail GAP.  Students will eat lunch at Mullan Trail. (This year all students still qualify for free lunch.) You will pick your child up at the end of the day from Mullan Trail.

If your kindergarten student attends the PM kindergarten session at West Ridge:

If your child requires before-session childcare, parents will drop off their kindergartener in the morning for GAP at Mullan Trail (back of the gym). Your child will eat lunch at Mullan Trail.  (This year all students still qualify for free lunch.) After lunch, a staff member will place GAP kindergarteners on a bus to West Ridge. Students will attend their PM session at West Ridge. At the end of the school day, students will either attend West Ridge GAP, ride the bus home or have parents pick them up at West Ridge.

If your kindergarten student attends the PM kindergarten session at Seltice:

If your child requires before-session childcare, parents will drop off their kindergartener in the morning for GAP at Mullan Trail (back of the gym). Your child will eat lunch at Mullan Trail.  (This year all students still qualify for free lunch.) After lunch a staff member will walk the GAP kindergarteners to Seltice. If you need childcare after school, a staff member will greet your child at Seltice and walk them back to Mullan Trail at the end of the day. Students who do not need after school childcare will ride the bus home or have parents pick them up at Seltice.

If your child attends the AM kindergarten session at Treaty Rock, Ponderosa or Greensferry:

Students will ride the bus or parents will drop their child off the school they attend (Treaty Rock, Ponderosa, or Greensferry). If before-school childcare is required, they will attend GAP at their home school.  When their AM kindergarten class is finished, they will be escorted to a bus and transported to Prairie View. GAP staff will greet them at the bus and take them into the Prairie View GAP area. Students will eat lunch at Prairie View. (This year all students still qualify for free lunch.) You will pick your child up at the end of the day from Prairie View in room 110.

If your child attend the PM kindergarten session at Treaty Rock, Ponderosa or Greensferry:

If your child requires before-session childcare, parents will drop off their kindergartener in the morning for GAP at Prairie View (room 110). Your child will eat lunch at Prairie View.  (This year all students still qualify for free lunch.) After lunch, a staff member will place GAP kindergarteners on a bus to their home schools (Treaty Rock, Ponderosa, or Greensferry). Students will attend their PM kindergarten session at their home school. At the end of the school day, students will either attend their home school GAP, ride the bus home or have parents pick them up at their home school.

Dear GAP families,

As you may have heard, starting April 5th all students who are attending school in person will be at school 5 days per week. (Fridays will no longer be a remote learning day.) With this change it may be necessary for you to change the care your child receives with GAP. If you will need GAP childcare 5 days a week, please inform the GAP staff at the site your child attends as soon as possible.

This change to 5 days per week for in-person school also means starting after April 5th, we will no longer have our Friday larger group sessions. Other COVID-related protocols remain in place to ensure the safety and well-being of the children.

These include:

  • Children attend GAP at normal times.

  • Masks guidelines per the current Panhandle Health Mandate continue to be followed.

  • Scheduled cleaning occurs in the GAP classrooms during the school day at appropriate times.

  • Handwashing is integrated throughout the day.

  • Hand sanitizer is available throughout the school building and within the GAP classrooms.

  • Social distancing will be implemented when possible and reasonable.

  • We are limiting the use of shared supplies.

  • GAP will coordinate with other local agencies such as Panhandle Health and other state authorities overseeing childcare facilities.

  • Parents will monitor their students' health, ensuring students stay home if they are sick or showing symptoms.
