Community Input Session-Proposed Elementary Attendance Zone Changes

A new Post Falls School District elementary school is currently under construction.  The new Treaty Rock Elementary will open with K-5 students in the fall of 2020.  The district will also move all kindergarten students from a centralized kindergarten program located in the Frederick Post Kindergarten Center to their zoned elementary schools.  As a result, it is necessary to update elementary school boundary zones.  The district has developed a draft rezoning proposal and would like input from affected families regarding the proposal’s viability.

District Office administrators are hosting an Attendance Boundary Informational Session to review the proposed changes, solicit input, answer questions, and share information about “grandfathering” students.  Invitations have been sent to families who may be zoned to attend a different elementary school in the fall of 2020; however, all are welcome to join us.

  • February 26 in the Greensferry Elementary Library (6:30 p.m.)

The goals for developing new boundaries are as follows:

  1. Relieve overcrowding in district elementary schools.
  2. Keep local neighborhoods together.
  3. Identify students to attend Treaty Rock Elementary School.
  4. Establish boundaries that are easy to understand and make sense.
  5. Move as few students as possible and still address the above goals.
2020-2021 Kindergarten

For over 20 years, we have housed all kindergarten students at the Frederick Post Kindergarten site. However, it has long been a goal of the school district to return the kindergarten students to their “home” elementary schools where they can enjoy a K-5 experience.  Recent voter approval of the March 2019 bond for a new elementary school in the Foxtail subdivision means all kindergarten students will return to their home schools in the fall of 2020.  The staff, students and parents at our elementary schools are eager to welcome their kindergarten students.

In the beginning of March, more information will be shared regarding a spring registration and a fall kindergarten open house at each elementary school.

Free & Reduced Meals

School lunches are a cost effective way to provide students with a nutritious meal during the school day. You may qualify to take advantage of this wonderful service allowing your child to eat for free or at a reduced cost.

If you think you might qualify, please take a few minutes to complete a free and reduced lunch application - - forms are available at the school office or can be found on the District website under Departments, Nutritional Services, Forms (  Just return the completed form to the District Office (206 W. Mullan Ave.), to your student’s teacher, or to your school office. All information is totally confidential. If you need assistance or have questions with the application please call 208-773-1625.

Even if you choose not to take advantage of the free and reduced lunch program, a qualifying application can increase the school district’s allocated dollars which go directly toward our Title One reading program which helps students improve in reading.

Title One is a reading intervention program offered at all of our elementary schools to help students gain the skills needed to meet the state and district reading benchmarks. Our program receives its funding from the federal government. All of our Title funding is based on the number of students in the district who qualify for free and/or reduced lunch.

If you have already completed an application for this school year, you don’t need to fill it out again. Applications must be completed annually.
