Post Falls High School / University of Idaho -Dual Credit

What is Dual Credit?

Dual credit is a program that allows high school students to enroll in college courses for credit prior to high school graduation.  College credits earned through dual credit can be applied toward high school and college graduation and can be transferred to other colleges or universities.

 

Registration Process:

 

 

1.      Students are required to submit payment or a  signed “Fast Forward Participation Form”

along with their registration form to the PFHS counseling office.  

 

2.      High school students who have not taken courses from the University of Idaho within the past two years are required to go online and complete an application for admission. http://www.uidaho.edu/admissions/other-applicants/dual-credit

(Students in dual credit courses will be taken to the computer lab during class time to complete this step)

 

3.      High school students who wish to access the free Fast Forward money to pay for their courses are required to submit a completed “Fast Forward Participation Form”.

NIC -Dual Credit

These courses are taught at North Idaho College!

 

Dual Credit allows academically qualified students to receive both high school credit and college credit for completion of NIC courses. To qualify you must be at least 16 years of age and/or have completed one-half of your high school graduation requirements. A 3.0 GPA is required. Dual Credit students pay a reduced tuition rate which can be viewed at: http://www.nic.edu/Websites/index.asp?dpt=12&pageID=379

1. Meet with High School Counselor

Your high school counselor can help you determine if you are eligible for the Dual Credit program.                                   

 

2. Complete an Application for Admission

You can apply online at https://www.nic.edu/applyonline/DualCredit  or submit an Application at the Admissions Office.  The dual credit authorization form and login information will be mailed to you in an admission packet.

 

3. Complete Dual Credit Authorization Form

Submit a completed Dual Credit Authorization Form to Admissions. http://www.nic.edu/dualCredit/_pdf/dualCreditAuthorizationForm.pdf

 

4. Meet Assessment Requirement

This can be met by taking a placement test, submitting ACT or SAT test scores. The placement test is required, please schedule an appointment. Information about testing is available online at www.nic.edu/testingcenter or call the Testing Center (208) 676-7203.

 

5. Select Classes

See chart below to determine which courses will meet your high school graduation requirements. View the NIC Class Schedule at http://www.nic.edu/schedules/ to find which classes are available, and register online at MyNIC http://www.nic.edu/myNIC/ .

 

6. Apply for Scholarships

The earlier the better. See the "Scholarships Applications" at http://www.nic.edu/dualCredit/ .

 

7. Pay Tuition

Tuition bills will not be mailed home but should be viewed through MyNIC account.  Payment can be made at http://www.nic.edu/myNIC/ with a Visa, MasterCard, or debit card. 

 

8. Purchase Books

Books can be purchased at the Mica Peak Exchange in the Student Union Building or on-line at www.bookstore.nic.edu
