District Sees Enrollment Growth

Student Enrollment grew by approximately 2% this fall.  The district enrollment is now 5,838 students as compared to 5,733 last year at this time.  River City Middle School saw a large increase in its enrollment.  Current enrollment is 662 as compared to 618 this time last year.  The opening of the new Greensferry Elementary School helped to handle this student growth as well.  Greensferry opened with 340 students.  The majority of those students came from Prairie View Elementary School and Ponderosa Elementary School.  The district will continue to monitor student growth and plan for future facility needs.

District Construction Update

District Construction Update

The citizens of Post Falls School District approved a $19.5 million Bond Levy in March of 2015 to fund numerous construction projects throughout the district. The multiple projects were constructed over a two year period. The following is an update regarding the progress to complete the approved projects.

Greensferry Elementary School The district awarded a contract to general contractor CNI to build a 50,000 square foot elementary school in the spring of 2015.  The new school was constructed and opened this fall for 340 students.  A dedication for the new school was held on September 1.  The majority of the students that currently occupy our beautiful new school come from two schools; Prairie View Elementary School and Ponderosa Elementary School.  The school was needed to relieve overcrowding at both schools.  Greensferry Elementary School is located on the corner of Bunting Avenue and Greensferry Road.  The school was named after the historical ferry crossing of the Spokane River.  Kathy Baker, formerly at Ponderosa Elementary School, now serves as the principal at Greensferry.

High School Auditorium  The district awarded a contract to general contractor Ginno Construction to construct a Performing Arts Auditorium at Post Falls High School. Construction started in the spring of 2016 and is scheduled to be completed by October of this year. The auditorium will be available for use by mid-October.

High School Auxiliary Gymnasium  The district awarded a contract to general contractor Ginno Construction to construct an Auxiliary Gymnasium at Post Falls High School. Construction started in the spring of 2016. The project has been completed and the facility has been available for student use since September.

River City Middle School Second Story Addition The River City addition was available for students and staff when school started on September 8, 2015. Eighth grade students have occupied the second story classroom addition. The district owes a debt of gratitude to our contractor, CNI, for being able to complete the project on time. The construction timeline was very short considering the size of the project.

West Ridge Elementary School Classroom Addition Two classrooms were added to West Ridge Elementary School during the summer of 2016. The two rooms are currently occupied by staff and students. Darden Enterprises constructed the project.

Mullan Trail Elementary School Update  During the summer of 2015 Mullan Trail Elementary School went through a major update with the addition of new energy efficient windows, exterior siding, new dropped interior ceilings, new carpet and paint. The project was ready for staff and students last fall.

Heating Units The district installed new heating units in three buildings during the summer of 2015; Frederick Post Learning Center, Mullan Trail Elementary School and Seltice Elementary School. The new units replaced units that were over 35 years old. The new heating units are energy efficient models.
